A weather system will move through the Tucson area late Wednesday into Thursday, bringing high elevation snow, light valley rain and breezy winds, the National Weather Service says.
Tucson might see its first widespread freeze of the season Friday morning, Jan. 5, with another chance Saturday morning.
Then, a stronger weather system will move through Sunday into Monday, Jan. 7-8, bringing widespread rain, heavy mountain snow, and strong winds, the weather service says. Valley locations from Tucson eastward could see light snow late Sunday into early Monday morning.
A hard freeze will again be possible in Tucson Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, with temperatures south and east dropping to the low teens and low 20s.

The search for breakfast this morning proved to be a little disappointing for this cow and the rest of her herd. They were wandering the Santa Cruz Riverbed but it was slim pickings for them.
Two snow covered cargo planes sit on the ramp at Nogales International Airport grounded by the weather. Roads were easily traveled for the most part, but unpaved areas of the county were covered with a two to four inch layer of snow that began late Wednesday night and continued through the morning as late as 11:00 am.
