Two days of gusty winds will give way to thunderstorms this week, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service in Tucson is warning of thunderstorms and flash floods Wednesday and Thursday before the region dries back up in time for Independence Day.

A flash flood watch is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday for portions of Southeast Arizona, the weather service says.
 
And a blowing dust advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday for the Tucson metro area as well as the southern portion of Pinal County.

 Wednesday’s high is expected to reach 99 degrees with a 50% chance of rain. Thursday will likely reach 94 degrees with a 60% chance of rain.

“We might see instinces of flash flooding tomorrow and Thursday, but looking into Thursday and Friday things will start to dry out a bit,” said forecaster Dalton Van Statten.

Storm chances will decrease to 15% to 30% Friday through Sunday. Thunderstorms are most likely to occur south of Tucson, the weather service said.

Friday’s predicted high is 97 degrees, Saturday’s is 100 degrees and Sunday’s is 104 degrees.
