A weather system brought windy conditions to Tucson early Wednesday along with a chance for rain and even snow east of the metro area.
The best chance for rain here will be Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Tucson said. There's also was a chance for a light snow in the morning for valleys east of Tucson, the forecast said.
A freeze warning is in effect Thursday and Friday for the metro area, the weather service said. Overnight lows could drop to as low as 25 degrees west of the Tucson metro area, and as low as 14 degrees in areas east of the city, the forecast shows.
For Tucson, the high temperature for Wednesday is forecast to be 54 degrees. It will rise to 58 degrees on Thursday and reach 57 degrees Friday.
The high temperature here on Saturday is forecast at 63 degrees.
The low temperature for Tucson is about 32 degrees every day through Saturday, the weather service says.
Wind gusts from 35 mph to 50 mph are expected to continue Wednesday.
Citing high winds and dry conditions, the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality on Wednesday issued a "Dust Action Day" alert for coarse particulate matter air pollution.
People most likely to be sensitive to dust pollution include children, older adults and people with heart or lung diseases, the department said.
Breathing small particles can irritate the respiratory system and worsen chronic heart and lung diseases.
People with sensitivities should reduce their level of exertion when outside, the department said in a news release.
