A hiker and her dog walk through Saguaro National Park East near the Broadway Trailhead on Thursday under a very early monsoon sky. The wind, dust, sprinkles and a few bolts of dry lightning were the first real stirrings of this year’s monsoon, which officially began June 15.

Monsoon weather is expected to continue across Tucson through the weekend.

There’s a 50% chance of rain Saturday, with an expected high of 103 degrees.

And there’s a 60% chance of rain on Sunday, with a high of 102.

β€œThe moisture is here,” said Glenn Lader, a senior forecaster for the National Weather Service in Tucson said Friday. β€œIt’s here, and it’s not going anywhere.”

While some parts of Tucson had rain Thursday, there was no measurable rainfall at the airport, the official site for the city’s weather data.

That means that on Friday, Tucson reached 80 days without measurable rain.

The forecast said that was possibly going to change by Friday afternoon, which included a 20 to 60 percent chance of rain and a brief dust storm warning that stretched from Sahuarita to north of Tucson.
