A new forecast shows potential freezing overnight temperatures and showers this weekend, the National Weather Service in Tucson says in its latest outlook for southern Arizona’s weekend.

A storm system is expected to roll through the region and bring β€œchances for showers and mountain snow showers” through Friday night.

The Tucson metro area should expect some scattered showers Friday, up to a quarter inch of rain through Saturday morning. There’s also an outside chance for β€œnear freezing” temperatures in outlying metro areas Sunday and Monday, the weather service says.

Low temperatures on Sunday morning could be about 37 degrees in Tucson, 38 degrees in Marana and 32 degrees in Green Valley, the weather service says.

About four to six inches of snow are expected to fall on Mount Lemmon, the weather service said in the outlook. Up to eight inches of snow could fall on Mount Graham, the weather service says.

Western Pima County, southeast Pinal County, Santa Cruz County and Cochise County can expect scattered showers Friday, the outlook says. Graham and Greenlee counties have a slightly higher chance for these conditions Friday, including the potential for freezing, according to the weather service.
