A Green Valley Fire District crew was battling a wildfire Friday that burned University of Arizona property east of Sahuarita.
Between 30 to 50 acres of grassland and mesquite burned on the UA's experimental agricultural area, said L.T. Pratt, a spokesman of the Green Valley Fire District.
The fire is burning near Box Canyon, Pratt said.
He said 10 firefighters are battling the blaze, which broke out about noon. The district has requested assistance from state land officials.
The cause of the fire is unknown, Pratt said.
