A woman was critically injured after her vehicle struck a pole on Tucson's south side Saturday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened on South 12th Avenue, between West 38th and West 40th Street, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Very few details are currently available, but there were three occupants in the car, which was the only vehicle involved in the crash, Dugan said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but it's unclear if the other two people were hurt in the crash.

The investigation is in the early stages and details will be provided when they become available, Dugan said.
