Federal immigration agents launched a major sweep in New Orleans as part of the Trump administration’s Operation Catahoula Crunch, aimed at arresting 5,000 people officials labeled the “worst of the worst.” ICE and Homeland Security teams carried out their first raid at a shipyard, detaining 25 undocumented immigrants from Honduras with criminal histories that included prior illegal entry, DUI, and firearm offenses. While DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the mission will “restore law and order,” local leaders criticized the operation for creating fear and disrupting daily life across the city.
