In England, a 99-year-old WWII veteran took to the skies once more, taking off from the same airfield he flew missions from 80 years ago. A chance encounter with a local pilot led the pair to fly together as their families watched in tears. Yair Ben-Dor has the story.

During World War II, the U.S. Army Air Forces’ photographic reconnaissance units captured the changing face of England, primarily around their bases in the south of the country. More than 3,600 of their images are now in a free online, searchable map through the archive of Historic England.
