Re: the March 12 article "Marana considers cutting ties with Pima Animal Care Care Center"

The unwanted pets of Marana are facing a very disturbing fate. Marana has decided they no longer want to support Pima Animal Care Center. They have decided they want to build a town shelter or let the overcrowded and very pet selective Humane Society of Southern Arizona care for their unwanted pets. This is an absurd and cruel idea!

It’s impossible for Marana to humanely care for the number of pets that are relinquished or picked up by PACC from the town of Marana. Do the people of Marana want to pay for two shelters, i.e., one for Marana and the new one passed by bond for PACC? Is Marana going to pay for a veterinarian, technicians, staff for intake, and cleaning and feeding for their own shelter? The expenses involved in operating a Marana shelter humanely and adequately will be far greater than the cost to support PACC.

Contact Marana town representatives and tell them you want PACC to continue to care for their stray and relinquished pets.
