Re: the April 2 article "Senior village in SE Tucson adding housing development"
The Welcoming Group of Academy Village/Altura commends the Arizona Daily Star for the excellent article on The Academy Village/Altura. The writer, Gabriela Rico, and photographer, Rick Wiley, captured the essence of the Village. However, one point requires clarification.
Our community does not attract just academics. The residents represent a wide range of backgrounds and work experiences, including artists and entrepreneurs, engineers and educators, military careerists and musicians, business and financial analysts, plus doctors, nurses, lawyers, former judges, and home-centered careers focused on family.
Our community is exceptionally open and welcoming, and we love the diversity because we learn so much from each other.
