Re: the July 20 article "Most speakers at meeting rail against Trico rate plan."

The headline is correct as far as it goes, but is nevertheless misleading. My wife and I, longtime rooftop solar customers, were at the meeting. Of the 15 people who spoke to the issue (we did not), only one spoke in favor of the proposed settlement. He was a homeowner from Corona de Tucson who stated he is not a solar customer, has no expertise in the area, nor has he any interest in installing solar power at his home.

All 14 others, including Trico customers, Tucson Electric Power customers, a state senator, solar engineers and installers, and representatives of environmental and consumer groups, such as AARP, spoke with expertise and experience about the adverse effects the proposed Trico settlement would have on both solar and non-solar customers (especially lower-income and senior citizen households), on the environment, and on the state's economy. More hearings to come.
