John Lott's column was a nice try at creatively interpreting Trumpβs remarks, but itβs obvious to everyone that Trump was making a joke about gun enthusiasts possibly killing liberal judges. Itβs the only thing he could have meant and itβs what he did mean.
Equally interesting is the rather dismissive phrase βSecond Amendment people.β Thatβs what gun rights advocates are for Trump: βSecond Amendment people.β He doesnβt care about the amendment, the Constitution or whether families can defend themselves. The only thing that really interests him about βSecond Amendment peopleβ is that a lot of them show up to his rallies and respond enthusiastically to his style of aggressive remarks.
If Trump wins, donβt expect any big push on gun rights in the courts. His primary concern will be to pack the courts with judges who will favor his own interests in the numerous legal actions he is constantly involved in.
