Re: the July 12 guest opinion "Help YWCA eliminate racism, make justice system work."

I found the article by Dr. Tanisha Price-Johnson and Kelly Fryer to be extremely disheartening. How can an article with the stated objective of eliminating racism include statements such as: "It is time for white people..." and "White people must educate themselves...."? It seems to me that children are born without prejudices. They learn prejudice from parents and other adults who see us as "white people" and "black people." Our job to help keep them from growing up to be bigoted adults.

Let's focus on our common humanity and love and respect for one another with all of our beautiful and wonderful differences. We can make this world a better place, one person at a time, starting with ourselves and our families. The only person that you can make do something is yourself; and, you can set an example for others. Please stop trying to end one form of racism by making racist judgments and statements of your own. Shouldn't we be advocating the "simple but profound truth, "all lives matter."
