Re: Monsanto to grow greenhouse crops in Tucson area. The multinational biotech giant, whose name is synonymous with controversy, will be growing corn and soybeans here.

Deidra Davis: If there were more land set aside for agriculture than giant parking garages and unused soccer fields, we wouldn’t need GMO garbage. Monsanto is GMO.

Anna Patton: GMO is not the same as Monsanto. GMO can be done without cancer-causing chemicals.

Eunice Gregory-Richard: Do not be fooled. Monsanto is a greedy chemical company who does not give a rip about who they poison. Do your research! Please.

Nathan Rix: GMOs are fantastic, they’re helping feed our growing populations. Monsanto, on the other hand, is a horrible corporation. Monsanto is the problem, not GM foods.

Tina Jakubcik: Would it not be nice to have them provide literature as to what they exactly mean to do or have a town meeting. Highly unlikely. I plan to research what their exact intentions are. Grow your own food, raise your own animals, harvest your water and be sustainable. Monsanto is a abomination to our agricultural community.

Rik Dotson: Human studies show how genetically modified food can leave material behind inside us, possibly causing long-term problems. Genes inserted into GM soy, for example, can transfer into the DNA of bacteria living inside us, and that the toxic insecticide produced by GM corn was found in the blood of pregnant women and their unborn fetuses.

Tony R. Elliott: Greenhouse Frankenfoods.

Nick Rienstra: I see a lot of ignorance in the majority of these comments.

Larry Kempton: What science proves there is anything wrong with GMO foods?

Violet Bunch: Are they going to be given a break on the cost of water? As I know I pay a lot just to have a small garden because Metro Water seems to be able to charge whatever they want. We need to protest this and not allow Monsanto to move into Arizona.
