RE: the May 28 article "Tucsonan comes up short in TV science contest."

Although I do not know the individual involved, I was highly incensed about the headline above Curt Prendergast's positive article about Tucsonan Mira Frenkel and her teammate making it all the way to the finals of Intel's nationwide America's Greatest Makers contest with their glove that translates hand motions of American Sign Language into spoken words and text.

What an accomplishment, and what a boon to society! This accomplishment by one of our own deserves nothing but praise and recognition, but whoever wrote the headline chose to head the article "Tucsonan Comes Up Short in TV Science Contest." What a put-down to someone who deserves nothing but praise and admiration. The contest recognized her accomplishment with a $100,000 prize. The Star's headline recognized only that she and her teammate did not come in first.
