Re: the March 13 article "Pressure increases to get new operator for Sabino trams"

Kudos to Tim Stellar for his latest article on the Sabino Canyon tram contract renewal. The current loud, smelly, polluting trams are right out of the '70s, not unlike the ones I used to ride in the Disneyland parking lot on my way to the Magic Kingdom! The current contractor's operations and business model are simply tired, out of date and out of place. Jim Click and the Zuckermans involvement is appreciated but way too late.

As a former Friends of Sabino Canyon member, I remember when the Santa Catalina District was working on a draft "request for proposal" to replace the current tram service with a newer, more modern tram service that addressed visitors' concerns about pollution (noise and air), convenience and availability. Clearly, this went nowhere. Now, with the current tram operator's contract expiring in a few months, there is no alternative but to keep the current tram service operating. It's a sad state of affairs for the Coronado National Forest and lovers of Sabino Canyon.
