Re: the May 28 article "2 diversity posts at UA come with $200K+ salaries."

The escalating cost of a college education and the burdensome debt that students incur has been recognized. In the past 30 years the cost of a college degree has increased 12 fold. This affects our family as we pay our daughter’s tuition and ever increasing fees at the University of Arizona.

Now consider the university’s hiring of diversity officers. It appears the administration decided to hire an officer to appease a vocal minority. Then, faced with a tough selection process, they hired not one, but 2 people, each at 30 percent above the median salary. If this is indicative of the way that the University makes decisions, it is no wonder why students are paying more. Arizonans should remember this incident, and the administration’s poor management, the next time UA whines about their strained financial situation.
