The mayor of South Tucson has the right to fire an employee for dereliction not insubordination to the mayor's politics. The firing of the police chief was based on personal and political reasons not on dereliction.
The Chief of Police is a citizen and should be treated as such. The mayor is elected to represent all of the citizens not just his personal idealogy.
