Re: Despite financial gains, Pima County looking at property tax increase. State shifting more costs to the county, County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry says.

Willow M. Frazier: Property tax rates in Pima County are already higher than any other county in Arizona. It is time to find some other source of revenue than the property owners or cut out more county projects. Something has to give.

Ann Irwin: How about nailing those properties mislabeled and collecting the tax owed that is years old, and finding those people who live here eight to nine months but take the “winter home” property discount? Don’t punish the people that do pay when those that aren’t paying get to skip out for years at a time.

Margie Wrye: Now as the state’s fiscal responsibility trickles down to the county’s and city’s fiduciary responsibility to their inhabitants, this will be fascinating to see how it plays out.

Martha Brightwell: Fault does not lie with Pima County. The Legislature keeps cutting away at the money we send to it and Maricopa County to meet their agenda, and it has very little to do with the needs of citizens. Pay attention and vote.
