Re: Tucson VA launches clinic for transgender veterans. Hospital will be fourth in the country with special facility.

Alex Samaniego: Isn’t it discrimination to isolate them in their own clinic? Can you imagine a VA clinic for whites only or blacks only? A veterans clinic for all veterans that provides good treatment and treats all veterans with respect is what is truly needed.

Rebecca Hazzard: I’d rather give my tax dollars to a transgender person to be a happy, productive person than a person on welfare that keeps popping out kids they can’t afford. At least a veteran who is transitioning from one sex to the other gave something to this country before they asked for something in return.

Derek Troy Cook: How about just a functioning VA clinic that doesn’t make it impossible for veterans to get their benefits?

Perlita Beauford: That’s great, but their cancer and hospice units need staff revamp and more care options. My experience and opinion. Our vets deserve better than “just enough” care.

Howard D. Huggins: How much money and how many specialists will be siphoned off to give these vets preferential treatment? Why can’t they take a number and get in line just like the rest of us? Until then, utilize all the specialists for all of the veterans.

Jeri Ferguson Jahnke: From the article: The suicide rate for such veterans (with gender issues) is “20 times higher” than their peers.
