PHOENIX — A Phoenix man is jailed without bond in connection with the death of his father, who authorities say was fatally stabbed.
Phoenix police say 25-year-old Erik Joseph Garcia was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder.
He didn't have a lawyer at his initial court appearance Wednesday.
Police say officers performing a welfare check found 75-year-old Clemente Valenzuela Garcia dead in his home.
They say the man's body had multiple stab wounds and was decomposing after being left in the home more than a week after his death.
Detectives say there was a history of escalating domestic violence between the father and son.
Court records show Erik Garcia told police he repeatedly stabbed his father following an argument and he watched his dad die before leaving the scene.
