Tucson weather

An extreme heat warning will be in effect for parts of Southern Arizona starting today, the National Weather Service in Tucson says.

Areas affected include Pima and Pinal counties as well as the Gila River Valley, the forecast says.

Temperatures will be above normal this week and then drop to near normal next week.

Wednesday's high temperature in Tucson is expected to reach 103 degrees, climbing to 105 both Thursday and Friday, the weather service says.

Weekend temperatures will be about 104 degrees.

There will be slight chances for thunderstorms and rain showers each day.

There's a 35% chance of precipitin in the Tucson metro area Wednesday, but it does to 15% Thursday through Saturday.
