The National Weather service has added flash flood warnings to its alerts in the Tucson region today.

Storms dropping 1 inch to i.5 inches of rain in less than an hour have triggered flood warnings in South Tucson, the San Xavier District of the Tohono O'odham Nation, Rita Ranch and Corona de Tucson.

Previously, theΒ Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning in the Tucson metropolitan area as storms moved off the Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains.

The severe thunderstorm warning has expired but storms continue to produce heavy rainfall. The flash flood warning is in effect until 5:15 p.m.
