Students at Carrillo K-5 Magnet School got a special visit from a V.I.P. Tuesday morning.
Pima County’s very own Tooth Fairy stopped by the downtown TUSD school along with Sen. Olivia Cajero Bedford for a lesson on oral health.
Because the Tooth Fairy never shows up empty handed, nearly 300 Carrillo students went home with goody bags filled with toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss courtesy of Delta Dental of Arizona.
The visit was made possible by Cajero-Bedford and Rep. Macario Saldate who approached Delta Dental about donating the oral hygiene items and sharing tips to give students a good start at developing oral health habits.
“Delta Dental of Arizona partners with legislators and offers legislators a chance to identify an organization in their community who has a need for oral health supplies,” said Anne Bishop, vice president and general counsel chief compliance officer. “We think that senators and representatives know their constituents and the places that really need help so we are excited to partner with them to get oral health supplies into our communities.”
Added Cajero-Bedford: “These students were so appreciative and so polite, it was very impressive. We enjoyed the day tremendously.”
