President Donald Trump escalated his administration’s confrontation with Harvard University on Tuesday, according to CNBC. He called for the school to lose its tax-exempt status after it rejected a sweeping federal demand to alter hiring, admissions, and teaching practices. The administration froze more than $2 billion in federal research funds and accused the Ivy League school of tolerating antisemitism. The White House’s demands included government oversight of departments, audits, and disciplinary action for student protests. Harvard President Alan Garber rejected the proposals, saying they infringed on academic freedom and violated First Amendment protections.
