When the People’s Liberation Army attacks Taiwan, it will not be liberation, since Taiwan is a democracy. Any country invading another to topple the latter’s government, dictatorial or democratic, and seize its wealth or natural resources is not liberation, but pure imperialism. Trump’s action on Venezuela is simply mimicking Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, and willfully beaconing Xi to conquer Taiwan. Trump has furthered his vision of a new world order – three imperial powers each having its own sphere of dominance. Is this making America great again? In truth, it will lower America’s world standing morally, politically, and economically: from a champion of human-rights to a greedy bully; from a leader of democratic alliances to an untrustworthy autocracy; from free trader to tariff warrior to lose its trading partners and markets. It does not take a genius to see that Trump is actively making the People’s Republic of China the new world leader. Wake up, fellow Americans.
