The response from the authorities could sound dismissive of the event. They said, "This incident was isolated to a rural part of Pima County where it is highly unlikely that the bobcat had contact with anyone other than this person and their pets." Where does one think the bobcat picked up rabies? From another infected animal!

Pima and Santa Cruz counties have the highest number of tested rabies in wild animals than any other counties in Arizona. Bats are the No. 1 carriers and wild and domestic cats like to go after bats, too. Avoid leaving food and water where wildlife will have access. This is an open invitation to your door. Make certain your animals are up to date with their rabies vaccines.
