Re: the April 11 column "Troops on border no big deal — except for politics."

Columnist Tim Steller seems to be missing two significant points in his chastising of Democrats regarding new troops at the border. The first is that whenever a large number of people (even though well trained) with guns gather in one place for any length of time, serious accidents may occur. We have seen thins in "friendly fire" incidents along the border for years. Any loss of life under any unnecessary/contrived situation is unforgivable.

The second is that Ducey is quick to "heel" to outside influences of any type (Trump, Koch, etc.) while he forcefully opposes the wishes from his supposed constituency in the state. Most notably his drive to overrule local municipalities votes against "dark" money contributions to candidates for state offices. The concerns raised are indeed valid and should be on everyone's mind this election season!
