"While the Iranian regime indiscriminately targets civilians with missiles and drones, U.S. forces continue to aggressively hunt and destroy Iranian missile launchers with precision," CENTCOM said in a statement accompanying the footage. CENTCOM Commander Gen. Brad Cooper said Tuesday that over 50,000 troops, 200 fighter jets, and two aircraft carriers are participating in the joint operations, describing the deployment as the largest U.S. military buildup in the Middle East in a generation. In a video message, Cooper stated that U.S. and Israeli forces have struck nearly 2,000 targets across Iran using more than 2,000 munitions since the campaign began Saturday. Iran has responded with large-scale retaliatory attacks, launching more than 500 ballistic missiles and over 2,000 drones, according to Cooper. Tensions escalated across the region following the U.S. and Israeli strikes that began Saturday, which reportedly killed nearly 800 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top military officials. Iranian forces have conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets. CENTCOM announced that six U.S. service members were killed and several others wounded in an Iranian strike on a tactical operations center in Kuwait during the operation.
