The Arizona Daily Star's Kelly Presnell is the 2018 Arizona Photographer of the Year. Some of the images from Kelly's winning portfolio.
Kelly is a six-time National Press Photographers Association Regional Photographer Of The Year and has been recognized in other contests including Best Of The West, National Association Of Hispanic Journalists, NPPA, the Arizona Press Club and the Associated Press. He has worked in Iola, Kansas, Junction City, Kansas, Salina, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas and Norfolk, Virginia. He has been at the Daily Star since 2003.

Tucson Fire Department engineer Matt Lauber carries two dogs out of the backyard of a fire at 7761 E. 33rd St., that was called in around 1:19 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018, Tucson, Ariz. The flames were confined to an area of objects against the outside of the home, with damage to the house and the neighboring home to the west, 7757 E. 33rd St., held to the eaves and scorching of the exteriors. TFD public information officer Capt. Andy Skaggs said both interiors were undamaged. Both dogs along with two others who couldn't be rounded up, were okay and uninjured. Nobody appeared to be at home at either house during the fire. A neighbor, Dale Wilson, reported hearing explosions just before TFD units arrived on the scene.
