If you're hoping to get your kids into a specific Tucson school district for the 2017-18 academic year, it's time to apply through open enrollment.
You can apply to schools inside and outside of your resident district. Decisions are made based on capacity and predicted enrollment, with students within a district taking priority.Β
Families can submit enrollment applications for TUSD schools starting today.
With the district's magnet program, you can put your child in a school that suits their interests. For example, if he or she is an amazing artist but is assigned to go to a school with a heavy math focus, you can apply to have him or her go to a school with an arts program.Β
Applications are due by Jan. 13 and students will be chosen by lottery later that month. Applications turned in after that will be considered for subsequent placement.Β
You can get an application at the district's School Community Services office at 1010 E. 10th Street in building B from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can also get a form onlineΒ here, at school offices and at the district's Family Resource Centers: Catalina, 3645 E. Pima; Palo Verde, 1302 S. Avenida Vega; Southwest, 6855 S. Mark and Wakefield, 101 W. 44th Street.Β
There's also an Enrollment Bus, that will be parked at various locations for the next several months, starting with Santa Rita High School today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also catch it from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Festival at Reid Park on Saturday.Β
You can turn in your finished application to staff on the Enrollment Bus, directly to the School Community Services office, email it to SCS@tusd1.org or mail it to School Community Services at P.O. Box 40400, Tucson, AZ 85717.
