A 50-year-old Sierra Vista man was jailed Sunday after police say a juvenile was injured by a blast from the man’s shotgun.

Don Pfeifer had a shotgun while sitting outside his apartment about 2:45 p.m. when it discharged, Sierra Vista police said Monday in a news release.

While officers were answering the report of gunfire, they learned that a juvenile who lived in the same apartment complex had been taken to Canyon Vista Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg, the release said. The juvenile was treated and released the same day, the release said.

Officers later determined the youth was outside in another part of the complex when he suffered a gunshot wound to his right calf, the release said.

Pfeifer was booked into the Cochise County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and two counts of misconduct with a weapon, the release said.
