The final recipients of the Pac-12's Tom Hansen Medals from the Arizona Wildcats are softball star Allie Skaggs and men's tennis standout Gustaf Strom, it was announced Monday.

The Pac-12's Tom Hansen Medals are awarded to two senior student-athletes — one male, one female — from each school in the conference for excellence in their respective sport, academics and leadership.

Arizona senior second baseman Allie Skaggs poses with her Rawlings Gold Glove in the dugout at Hillenbrand Stadium on Jan. 30, 2024. Skaggs did not commit an error in 168 chances as a junior in 2023.

Skaggs, an Ironwood Ridge High School alumna, ended her UA softball career as an All-American at second base and led the team with 14 home runs along with a .304 batting average in 56 games this past season. Last season, Skaggs was a Gold Glove winner. Skaggs, the 11th softball player to receive a Tom Hansen Medal, held a 3.833 GPA and was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The 2023 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year is the first UA softball player to win a Tom Hansen Medal since Alicia Hollowell in 2006. Skaggs recently graduated from the UA School of Journalism.

Strom, a three-time All-Pac-12 selection, helped the Wildcats win the Pac-12 championship and reach the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA men's tennis championships. The Stockholm, Sweden native was also named the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Arizona’s Gustaf Strom runs to the sidelines after winning a set against Auburn’s Billy Blaydes in their second round NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament matchup on May 4 in Tucson.

Strom, the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament champion, has played an essential role in the rise of UA men's tennis since joining the team in 2020.
