Arizona was ranked third in the Associated Press Top 25 media poll released Wednesday, behind only top-ranked Duke and No. 2 Michigan State.

The media poll did not appear to have the same kind of influence from the FBI investigation that the coaches' ESPN Top 25 might have had. In that poll, UA was ranked fifth and one voter said he didn't vote at all for any teams implicated in the federal investigation.

Among UA opponents in the AP Top 25 poll, Villanova (a possible opponent in the final day of the Battle 4 Atlantis) was sixth, USC was 10th, UCLA was 21st and Texas A&M was 25th.

The Star does not have a vote in the AP Top 25 this season. There is only one vote allotted to the state of Arizona and it has been moved to the Republic's Doug Haller, who was one of 18 voters putting the Wildcats in the No. 1 spot.
