29 CAL Neon Trees

Neon Trees will play before December's Arizona Bowl.

Neon Trees will play on the UA mall before this year’s NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, officials said Thursday.

The band will perform from 1:30-2:45 p.m. on Dec. 29 as part of the Desert Diamond Casino Tailgate Festival. The Arizona Bowl, played between members of the Mountain West and Sun Belt conferences, will kick off at 3:30 pm.

The Provo, Utah-based Neon Trees are perhaps best known for their international hits "Animal" and "Everybody Talks." The band recently took what it called an "important break," but is back in the studio recording an album.

The Arizona Bowl donated nearly $200,000 to local charities, and pumps an estimated $21 million into the Tucson economy, officials say. Air Force beat South Alabama 45-21 in last year's game.
