The No. 4-ranked Pima College men’s soccer team shut out host Paradise Valley CC 4-0 on Saturday to improve to 13-2 overall and 10-2 in the ACCAC.
Alejandro scored twice for the Aztecs, putting Pima up 2-0 with goals in the 41st and 48th minutes. Joost Hermeling and Diegoctavio Garcia Yanez also scored.
Pima outshot the Pumas 8-0. The Aztecs host their final home game of the regular season against Scottsdale CC at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Women’s soccer
Seven different players scored as the Aztecs stayed unbeaten in conference play with an 8-0 shutout victory at Paradise Valley CC on Saturday.
Yajaira Cervantes scored twice for the No. 13 Aztecs (9-15, 9-0-3), giving her a team-high 14 on the season. Scoring one goal apiece for Pima were Ava Dagnino, Kristal Navarro, Anjeli DesRosier, Gabriela Mendoza, Marissa Garate and Ashley Martinez.
Pima outshot the Pumas 17-1 as goalkeeper Brooke Valencia needed to make just one save in the shutout.
The Aztecs host their regular-season home finale vs. Scottsdale CC at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Pima volleyball
Maggie McReynolds had 16 kills, 11 digs and four aces, but the Aztecs lost to No. 9 Mesa 3-2 on Friday at home.
Game scores were 15-25, 25-18, 15-25, 25-18, 15-9.
Julia Baird had seven kills and two aces for Pima, which plays at No. 19 Scottsdale CC at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Cross country
The Pima women’s cross country team placed eighth at Saturday’s Highlander Invitational in Riverside, Calif., while the men placed 21st.
Sofia Cambridge led the Pima women in the 6K race, finishing 30th out of 118 with a time of 24 minutes, 19.8 seconds.
In the 8K men’s race, Jose Hernandez was the top Aztecs finisher as he placed 99th out of 285 in 25:20.5.
Both Pima teams will compete at the Region I, Division I Championships on Saturday. Time and location are still TBA.
