The Arizona Wildcats’ bid to make the postseason took another hit with yet another one-run loss.

Josh Tedeschi pitched 7 2/3 stellar innings, and Utah beat the UA 3-2 on Saturday at Smith’s Ballpark. The loss drops Arizona to 6-11 in Pac-12 play and 23-17 overall. With the win, Utah pulled even with the Wildcats in the conference standings. The Wildcats (23-17) have lost five straight games; three of them have come by one run.

Utah scored runs in the first and second innings, and the 2-0 score held until Arizona rallied in the seventh.

Seve Romo ripped a one-out single and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Blake Paugh delivered a two-out RBI single to halve Utah’s lead.

The Utes made it 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning, however, when Oliver Dunn ripped a two-out double to left field, scoring a runner.

Cameron Cannon’s solo home run in the eighth moved Arizona back to within a run.

The Wildcats put the leadoff man on in the ninth inning, but were unable to do anything. Matt Fraizer’s lineout to right field ended the game.

UA pitcher Michael Flynn allowed all three runs on five hits before being lifted with one out in the seventh inning. He struck out four and walked two.

The teams will play again Sunday afternoon.
