Ivy Davis hit a two-run homer and Alyssa Denham struck out 10 to lead the No. 10-ranked University of Arizona softball team past visiting New Mexico 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Davis’ blast in the second would turn out to be all the runs UA (32-13) would need in its third straight victory. Aleah Craighton provided the other run with an RBI single in the sixth to make it 3-1. Davis' home run was her third in her last seven games.

Denham has surrendered just one earned run to opponents in her last three starts, a stretch that has seen the sophomore go 3-0 with 20 strikeouts. She has lowered her season ERA from 2.35 to 1.90, good for eighth in the Pac-12 and just behind teammate Taylor McQuillin (1.83).

Denham allowed five hits and an unearned run to improve to 8-3, while striking out a career-high 10 batters.

The Wildcats host Oregon State for a three-game series starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
