Arizona still has one scholarship available for next season and Sean Miller said the coaching staff was working towards possibly filling the final spot on the team. One possible prospect: Fresno State transfer Bryson Williams.
The 6-foot-8, 230-pound Williams announced his transfer in April after former head coach Rodney Terry resigned in March. Newly hired head coach Justin Hutson said in an interview with Andrew Marden of KSEE24 News in Fresno that Williams visited Arizona. Williams visited UA along with Oregon and UTEP, per Hutson.Β

As a sophomore, Williams averaged 13.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, and shot 59.6 percent from the field. Despite transferring, Huston and Fresno State are working towards keeping Williams on roster.Β
"Our job is to work and let him know that we want him back. We would take him back," Huston said in the interview.Β
UTEP could be a front-runner to land Williams for familiarity reasons, considering it hired former FSU coach Terry as its head coach. And in Williams' Fresno State bio, he chose to play for the Bulldogs "because of the coaching staff."
If Williams were to transfer to Arizona, he would have to sit out until the 2019-2020 season, but could add depth to a front court of Chase Jeter and Ira Lee.Β
