Sunday was the opening day of NBA free agency and one former Arizona Wildcat is on the move. The Golden State Warriors traded small forward Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies along with protected first-round picks in the 2024 and 2025 NBA Draft. A 2026 unprotected first-round pick is also included in the trade, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. 

Prior to trading the 2015 NBA Finals MVP, Golden State had agreed with the Brooklyn Nets on a four-year, $117 million max contract for free agent guard D'Angelo Russell via sign-and-trade, per Wojnarowski. In order to create cap room after signing Klay Thompson to a five-year, $190 million contract. 

The 35-year-old Iguodala is currently on a three-year, $48 million contract and will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020. He is set to earn just over $17.1 million this season. Iguodala joined Golden State in 2013 and won three championships in five years during that stretch. He was also named to the 2014 NBA All-Defensive First Team. 

Last season, Iguodala averaged 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds on 50% shooting. He's now on the move to Memphis in order for the Warriors to acquire Russell, who will likely replace Thompson at shooting guard while he is expected to miss the opening portion of the 2019-20 season rehabbing the ACL injury he suffered in Game Six of the NBA Finals.

Memphis will be Iguodala's fourth destination in the NBA after being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2004. He also played for the Denver Nuggets during the 2013 season. 

With Iguodala departing, the Warriors no longer have a Finals MVP on roster after All-Star forward Kevin Durant signed a max contract with the Nets Sunday afternoon.
