USA tied a FIBA U19 World Cup record by hitting 19 3-pointers in its blowout 129-70 win over Cameroon on the final day of group phase games Tuesday in Lausanne, Switzerland.

USA shot 51.8% overall while hitting 19 of 37 3-point shots (51.4%). Incoming Louisville freshman Mikel Brown led USA with 24 points and eight assists, making 5 of 6 3s, while Arizona’s Koa Peat had 15 points and six rebounds.

The Americans finished 3-0 in group play while Cameroon went 0-3. As the first-place team in Group D, USA will play a round of 16 game against Jordan at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Jordan finished last in Group C at 0-3, including a forfeit to Israel when its players refused to take the court due to the war in Gaza.

Cameroon took an early 5-3 lead on a 3-pointer from Ronny Ewanke but USA later went ahead 7-5 after Peat and Brown scored inside, and the Americans never trailed again.

Cameroon pulled within 28-25 at the end of the first quarter, but Peat scored four points in the first 90 seconds of the second quarter and USA rolled to a 72-38 lead at halftime.

The Americans led 101-62 at the end of the third quarter before continuing to coast in the fourth.
