Adia Barnes locked up another verbal commitment for the 2019 class β€” from Iceland, of all places.

Birna Benonysdottir, a four-star recruit, verbally committed Friday afternoon. The 6-foot-4-inch post player should help the Wildcats in having a presence inside β€” something they needed last season. She's a natural center, but can also play forward if needed. Scouting reports say she is quick, can score, and is a top defender.

In the 2017 FIBA U18 women's basketball European Championships, she scored 16.6 points and grabbed 7.7 rebounds. She was also the 2016-17 Úrvalsdeild Women's Young Player of the Year. She plays for Keflavík, Iceland's most successful women's team.

Arizona's 2019 class now contains two players, both of whom hail from overseas. The UA has also landed a commitment from Latvian guard Mara Mote, who was listed as a four-star by ProspectsNation.com.

Assistant coach Salvo Coppa led the recruiting efforts for both players.
