Arizona guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright (0) shoots the middle of the lane under Chico State guard Corey Silverstrom (33) in the first half of their exhibition game at McKale Center, Sunday November 5, 2017, Tucson, Ariz.

Allonzo Trier and DeAndre Ayton led an efficient Arizona offense in an easy 91-53 exhibition win over Division II power Chico State on Sunday at McKale Center.

Trier scored 22 points on 7-for-9 shooting and hit 3 of 4 3-pointers while Ayton had 21 points on 6-for-9 shooting and hit all eight free throws he took. Point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, returning from a sprained ankle, had 14 points, three rebounds and four assists.

Overall, the Wildcats shot 65.3 percent from the field, while hitting 7 for 13 (53.8 percent) 3-pointers. Chico State shot just 36.1 percent.

Chico State returns four starters from the team that lost by only eight points at Arizona in an exhibition game last season but was never competitive Sunday against UA, even as the host Wildcats were without three players.

UA freshman wing Brandon Randolph suffered a concussion in practice Saturday and sat out along with sophomore guard Dylan Smith (unspecified team violation) and sophomore forward Rawle Alkins (broken foot).

Randolph might be questionable for UA's Nov. 10 opener against NAU since concussions usually require an athlete to sit out for at least a week.

In the first half, Trier had 12 points and three assists to lead Arizona to a 44-29 halftime lead.

DeAndre Ayton added nine points, four rebounds and three assists for the Wildcats, who were playing without freshman wing Brandon Randolph (concussion). Jackson-Cartwright had nine points.

Arizona shot 68.2 percent from the field in the first half while Chico State shot 44.4 percent, but did not score for the first 4:39 of the game. Chico State struggled similarly in the early second half, hitting one of its first six field goals immediately after halftime.

In less than 20 seconds around the eight-minute mark in the first half, Ayton was part of seven quick points. He flipped a pass that Keanu Pinder dunked in to make it 27-13, then assisted Allonzo Trier on a 3-pointer that made it 30-16 and then popped in a 3-pointer of his own from the top of the key to give UA a 33-18 lead.

Arizona coach Sean Miller started freshman Emmanuel Akot in place of Randolph and Alkins on the wing, while PJC returned to the starting lineup. UA's other starters were Trier at shooting guard, Ayton at power forward and Dusan Ristic at center.

Arizona will open the regular season on Friday against NAU at McKale Center.
