Georgetown transfer James Akinjo posted on Instagram just five minutes into the New Year (Pacific time) that he's committed to Arizona.
"Happy New Year," Akinjo posted. "I'm 1000 percent committed. .... turn me up."

Originally a UConn commit from Richmond, Calif., Akinjo played a key starting role for Georgetown until he left last month, then quickly visited the Wildcats for their Dec. 14 game with Gonzaga. He was also considering the Bulldogs.
Akinjo had a previous relationship with the UA coaching staff that inevitably helped the Wildcats. He considered UA in the spring of 2018 when its roster was bare but ultimately chose Georgetown over Tennessee and Arizona.
At Georgetown, Akinjo was a fulltime starter both as a freshman last season and as a sophomore this season. Upon transferring last month, Akinjo was averaging 13.4 points and 4.4 assists while averaging a team-high 30.7 minutes. He had 19 points against Duke.
When Akinjo left the Hoyas earlier this month, two other players also left in the wake of student conduct concerns. But Akinjo was not mentioned in any court documents reviewed by CBS Sports, and the school clarified with the Washington Post that he wasn't involved.
