Pitt grad transfer Ryan Luther is visiting Arizona this weekend, according to Rivals' Corey Evans, giving the Wildcats a chance at some much-needed size and experience.

A 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward, Luther played in just 10 games last season with foot issues, but was leading the Panthers in scoring (12.7 points) and rebounding (10.1) before he was held out for good in mid-January.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Luther’s injury last season involved the third metatarsal in his right foot and he also missed 12 games in 2016-17 with a stress fracture in the second metatarsal of his right foot.

Luther was vocal in his support of former Pitt coach Kevin Stallings, who was fired after last season.

β€œI am disappointed with the decision to fire coach Stallings,” Luther posted on Twitter. β€œOur team wanted to be here and play for coach Stallings and his amazing staff.”

Arizona is also hosting small forward Omar Thielemans of Belgium this weekend.

After his statue was unveiled Thursday, Lute Olson said Sean Elliott was the best player he ever coached because he was so talented and so versatile. Then he mentioned the game when Elliott broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s career Pac-10 scoring record, a blowout UA win over UCLA in 1988-89.

β€œHe’s out there and he’s passing to people,” Olson said. β€œI called timeout and said, `Sean, this is embarrassing for me to keep the starters out there. Would you please break the record?’

β€œThen he got fouled and hit the free throws so he broke the record.”

Dusan Ristic finished with 14 points on 7-for-11 shooting and seven rebounds in 20 minutes, helping Norfolk Sports Club beat Roger Brown’s 114-102 in Portsmouth Invitational game Friday..

Ristic’s final game for the Norfolk Sports Club will be played Saturday at 10 a.m. and will be streamed through Netcast Sports.

The Wildcats have reportedly expressed interest in another former UConn commit, wing Emmitt Matthews Jr.
