Alamo Bowl

Arizona running back Jonah Coleman (3) takes a pre-game lap around the Alamodome field before the game against Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl, San Antonio, Texas, December 28, 2023.

The impact of Jedd Fisch leaving Arizona for Washington was bound to affect the Wildcats' roster. The first domino fell, when sophomore star running back Jonah Coleman announced that he's entering the transfer portal on Monday.

Coleman hasn't committed anywhere, but his "likes" tab on his X (Twitter) account suggest he could be following Fisch to Washington.

The 5-9, 225-pound Coleman, a Stockton, California native and member of the UA's star-studded 2022 recruiting class, ended his two-year Arizona career with 1,243 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, along with 307 receiving yards.

Coleman led the Wildcats in rushing with 128 carries for 871 yards and five touchdowns as a second-year running back this past season. Coleman averaged 5.2 yards per carry after contact, according to Pro Football Focus. PFF gave Coleman a team-leading 91.8 offensive grade for the season; he also had a 93.5 rushing grade. Coleman's top performance as a Wildcat was an 11-carry, 179-yard outing at Colorado. He also had 22 carries for 143 yards in a triple-overtime loss to USC, and a three-touchdown performance in Arizona's 38-point win over Washington State.

With seniors Michael Wiley and DJ Williams out of eligibility, Coleman was expected to become the Wildcats' workhorse starter, along with Rayshon Luke, freshman Brandon Johnson and incoming freshmen Jordan Washington and Adam Mohammed.

More players are expected to enter the transfer portal in the wake of Fisch's departure. Keep track of Arizona's transfer portal activity here.
