For the first time since the 2017 season, the Arizona Wildcats have entered the College Football Playoff rankings. Arizona earned the No. 21 spot in the second CFP rankings of the season that were unveiled Tuesday evening on ESPN.

It’s the first time Arizona has cracked the CFP rankings since Week 11 of the 2017 season, which was also the last time the Wildcats qualified for a bowl game, when Rich Rodriguez was head coach. Arizona was in the CFP rankings eight times during the first year of the College Football Playoff in 2014; the Wildcats’ highest CFP ranking that season was No. 7.

Entering the showdown with Colorado (4-5) in Boulder on Saturday, Arizona (6-3) is also ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats are the only school in the Pac-12 to have their football and men’s basketball programs both ranked in the AP Top 25.
