Arizona has added another quarterback to the mix via the NCAA transfer portal.
Jordan McCloud, who started 16 games at South Florida over the past two seasons, announced Saturday that he has committed to the Wildcats.
McCloud joins Washington State transfer Gunner Cruz as new faces in the UA quarterback room. They will compete with returnees Will Plummer and Kevin Doyle for the starting job.
After redshirting in 2018, McCloud appeared in 20 games for USF over the past two seasons. He completed 244 of 418 passes (58.4%) for 2,770 yards with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 357 yards and five scores.
McCloud (6-0, 193) was a three-star prospect out of Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, in the class of 2018. He held offers from Boston College, Iowa State, Maryland and Oregon, among others.
McCloud likely will be announced as part of Arizonaโs 2021 signing class on Wednesday, which is National Signing Day. He is the seventh player to join the UA program via the transfer portal since Jedd Fisch became coach on Dec. 23.
Although he played in eight games last season as a redshirt sophomore, McCloud will have three years of eligibility remaining thanks to the NCAAโs blanket waiver for all players who participated in the 2020 campaign.
McCloud is the younger brother of former Clemson receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers this past season.
