Arizona spring football practice | April 23, 2024

Arizona wide receiver AJ Jones (6) jumps to catch a pass during spring football practice on April 23.

Arizona redshirt sophomore wide receiver AJ Jones announced his plans to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday.

Jones will have two years of eligibility remaining.

In 18 games over three seasons, Jones had five catches for 27 yards. Jones appeared in six games this season, but didn't record any statistics.

The 6-4, 211-pound Jones was a part of Arizona's program-changing 2022 recruiting class that also had wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, quarterback Noah Fifita, linebacker Jacob Manu, offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea and cornerback Tacario Davis, among several others.

Jones was among the wide receivers in contention to become a part of Arizona's receiver rotation during the season.

Jones is the latest UA football player to announce their plans to enter the transfer portal, which officially opens for business on Monday. Backup quarterback Brayden Dorman, tight end Dorian Thomas and running back Rayshon "Speedy" Luke are also transferring.
